“With such behav­iour, the Belaru­sian regime refut­ed any­pos­si­bil­i­ty aboutits readi­ness for a dia­logue. Such­in­ten­tions were the emp­ty words. Actions of the Belaru­sian regime con­firmthat the only way for­ward for the EU is to sup­port the Belaru­sian peo­ple in their unrest over bru­tal behav­iour of the regime and call for a step­ping down of Ali­ak­san­dr Lukashen­ka. Only after, a dia­logue is pos­si­ble regard­ing orga­ni­za­tion of new,this time free and fair, election.The future of Belarus is being decid­ed on these days. We call upon the Euro­pean Union’s insti­tu­tions to remain prin­ci­pled when sup­port­ing and defend­ing legit­i­mate aspi­ra­tions of the Belaru­sian peo­ple to live in a demo­c­ra­t­ic coun­try where the rule of law, includ­ing respect for the fun­da­men­tal free­doms and human rights, pre­vail.”
