BAJ Becomes Full Member of IFEX

This was the out­come of vot­ing at the 18^th Gen­er­al Meet­ing of IFEX being held now in Trinidad and Toba­go.

BAJ is rep­re­sent­ed by the chair­per­son Andrei Bas­tunets. He out­lined the activ­i­ties of BAJ, described in more details the Stand up for Jour­nal­ism cam­paign and the Inter­na­tion­al Day against Impuni­ty which BAJ sup­ports with the main inspir­ers the Euro­pean Fed­er­a­tion of Jour­nal­ists and IFEX.

Since sum­mer 2014, BAJ had been an inter­im mem­ber of IFEX. Andrei Bas­tunets expressed hopes that coop­er­a­tion with­in IFEX will help enhance effec­tive­ness of defense of jour­nal­ists’ rights in Belarus.

IFEX was found­ed in 1992 by 12 NGOs in Cana­da, cur­rent­ly it is an inter­na­tion­al asso­ci­a­tion for defense of rights and free­doms, con­sist­ing of more than 80 orga­ni­za­tions from 60 coun­tries.
