  • BAJ joined the action in memory of journalists who died in the war in Ukraine

On February 24 in Brussels, representatives of various international organizations were photographed with posters bearing the names of journalists killed in the war in Ukraine.

The action was attended by Deputy Chair of the Belarusian Association of Journalists Barys Haretski. He honored the memory of Ukrainian cameraman Yevgeny Sakun.

49-year-old Evgeny Sakun worked for the Ukrainian TV channel LIVE. On March 1, 2022, he covered the Russian invasion of Ukraine and died under fire from Russian troops near the Kyiv TV tower. The body of the journalist was identified by a press card.

“The war in Ukraine is a terrible crime of Russia. The Belarusian people and Belarusian journalists are in full solidarity with the Ukrainians and admire the courage and professionalism of their Ukrainian colleagues. Every person who suffered and died in this war is important to us. We cannot forget this tragedy! Every day we stand together with the Ukrainian people and Ukrainian colleagues,” said Barys Haretski.
