  • Four journalists detained on Sunday. Two were not released and are to be tried

    On Sunday, November 29, police detained journalists in Minsk and Brest during the coverage and after the protests.

    In Brest, traf­fic police stopped the car with reporters Stanis­lau Kor­shu­nau (Brest­skaya Gaze­ta and TUT.BY) and Mak­sim Khli­a­bets («Brest­skaya Gaze­ta »).

    The jour­nal­ists were tak­en to the Lenin­s­ki dis­trict police depart­ment and released after 3 hours of deten­tion.

    Novy Chas jour­nal­ist Yana Trusi­la was detained near Kamen­naya Hor­ka in Min­sk. At first, col­leagues and rel­a­tives could­n’t find Yana.

    Lat­er they learned that she had been tak­en to the Lenin­sky dis­trict police depart­ment and trans­ferred to Akrestsi­na deten­tion cen­ter. She is charged with par­tic­i­pat­ing in an unau­tho­rized protest (arti­cle 23.34 of the Admin­is­tra­tive Code). She should be tried no lat­er than three days after her deten­tion. 

    Two weeks ago, Yana Trusi­la was released from jail after a 13-day arrest (she was detained while cov­er­ing the protest on Novem­ber 1).

    Also, the police detained free­lancer Inna Dabratvor. She was tak­ing pic­tures dur­ing the protest when  she was detained near Mahil­iouskaya metro sta­tion. .

    She was trans­ferred from Zavod­s­ki police sta­tion to Akrestsi­na deten­tion cen­ter, and charged with par­tic­i­pat­ing in an unau­tho­rized protest (arti­cle 23.34 of the Admin­is­tra­tive Code). Inna Dabratvor should be tried no lat­er than three days after her deten­tion.
