Journalist Tatsiana Karaviankova’s property was seized in Belarus
On October 4, the Minsk City Agency for State Registration and Land Cadastre seized the real estate of journalist Tatsiana Karaviankova.
As Tatsiana wrote on Facebook, the seizure was made based on a decision of the Main Investigative Department of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee dated September 26, 2024. The document she received from the cadastral agency does not specify the reason for this persecution.
Tatsiana Karaviankova stated that she had contacted the Investigative Committee for clarification, but had not yet received a reply to her letter.
The seized property is a one-third share in a house that she jointly owns with relatives.
Tatsiana Karaviankova is a well-known Belarusian journalist. She worked for a long time as a political and international analyst for the independent news agency BelaPAN. She is a laureate of several journalism awards. In 2021 she was forced to leave Belarus and currently lives and works abroad.
