The event is scheduled ahead of the upcoming electoral events in Belarus, where preliminary results are expected to be announced on January 26. It is anticipated that Aliaksandr Lukashenka, who has ruled the country for more than 30 years, will be declared «elected» for a seventh term.

During the press conference, Special Rapporteur Nils Muižnieks will share his perspective on the current situation in Belarus and answer questions from participants.

For security reasons, we kindly ask all attendees to complete the accreditation form, where you can also indicate your preferred format of participation (online or offline). The working languages of the conference will be English and Belarusian, with simultaneous interpretation provided.

The press conference is held on the initiative of Belarusian human rights defender Leanid Sudalenka with the support of the Belarusian Human Rights House and the Belarusian Association of Journalists.
