Draconic Draft Amendments to Mass Media Law: Registration of On-line Periodical Editions, Identification of Commentators, Blocking of Social Media
The Belarusian Association of Journalists has received a draft law of Belarus ‘On Introduction of Changes and Amendments to Some Laws of Belarus’ from the Standing Committee on Human Rights, National Relations, and Mass Media. The draft bill mainly concerned the existing Belarus law ‘On Mass Media’.

The judge of Frunzenski City District Court of Minsk Andrei Malechka punished an independent journalist Volha Chaichyts by a fine of 735 BYN, for the alleged illegal production of a TV-report about public protests, followed by a governmental decision to densify a housing area in Yakubouski street in Minsk.

On 14 March, the Homiel District Court fined the freelance journalists Kastus Zhukouski and Andrei Tolchyn for 25 base amounts (about EUR 255) each. This is the third fine for freelancing these Homiel residents receive this year.
