  • Press conference ahead of Andreyeva’s and Chultsova’s trial (February 5, 12:00 CET)

    February 9 Frunzenski court of Minsk will begin to hear the criminal case against Belsat journalists Katsiaryna Andreyeva (Bakhvalava) and Daria Chultsova.

    Novem­ber 15 the jour­nal­ists were livestream­ing from a protest on the «Square of Change» in Min­sk, when they were detained and accused of orga­niz­ing events seri­ous­ly under­min­ing pub­lic order (Part 1 of Arti­cle 342 of the Crim­i­nal Code).

    The human rights com­mu­ni­ty has rec­og­nized Andreye­va and Chultso­va polit­i­cal pris­on­ers. Many Belaru­sian and inter­na­tion­al orga­ni­za­tions demand the imme­di­ate release of the jour­nal­ists. Their tri­al will start on Feb­ru­ary 9. The jour­nal­ists are fac­ing up to 3 years of impris­on­ment.

     — Deputy Direc­tor of Bel­sat TV chan­nel Ali­ak­sei Dzikav­it­s­ki.
