  • Supreme Court postpones hearing on closure of Belarusian Association of Journalists

The Supreme Court postponed the hearing of the lawsuit filed by the Ministry of Justice to liquidate BAJ to August 27 as BAJ had appealed against the Ministry's warning, the formal reason to ask for the shut down of BAJ.

On July 15, the day after the office search, the Belarusian Association of Journalists received a warning from the Ministry of Justice. BAJ strongly disagrees with the warning, and appealed it to the Supreme Court.

The appeal against the warning will be heard by the Supreme Court on August 23. On August 27 the court will return to the Ministry’s lawsuit to liquidate the organization.

The Belarusian Association of Journalists thanks all colleagues for solidarity and support!
